Town Square Democracy

Defending Democracy Starts Locally | February 2026

Welcome!

Thank you for joining us!

Whether you are new to protesting and volunteering or you are already a longtime engaged participant, we welcome everyone who wants to stand up FOR a judiciary branch of government with a spine and AGAINST any authoritarian, anti-intellectual administration!

Town Square Democracy was born out of concern for the growing threats to the rule of law and civic trust. We are neighbors, we are advocates, we come together to act!

Thank you to those of you who were able to join us in December and January for our Living Room Conversation at Bernie’s Cafe in Noe Valley, San Francisco.

More Living Room conversations are on the way! Tell your friends, coworkers, grocery store baggers and local librarians, we are all here to stand up for what is right!

Dolores Park Jan 30, 2026 - Students and Teachers rally

Support our judges! With the executive branch filled with yes-men buoying the petulant whimsy of an egotistical man-child and a congressional body kowtowing party lines and reneging on a united front against fascism, it is up to the judiciary branch of our government to shut down abuses of power and efforts to remove the protections granted by our U.S. Constitution.

We Need People! The People hold power in a democracy. Join with us! We are powered by people who are passionate about the unfolding chaos brought on by the Trump Administration. Can you draw? We’d love more artwork for our postcards! Like to write? Come add to our blog letting The People know the latest goings-on. There’s never enough anti-dis anti-mis information! Can you code and design a webpage? Lend a helping hand for our website overhaul! No talent too small, all ages welcome.

Branch Out! In addition to our focus on the judiciary Town Square Democracy members also produce events focused on immigrant rights and science and health. Scroll down to read about the February 23 panel, "Trump vs the Environment: Climate Science and Health under Attack!

Another Moment, Jan 26, Sutro Heights Park

More than a hundred people gathered in Sutro Heights park for a vigil on January 26 for Alex Pretti. Nurses, veterans, as well as neighbors and community activists came together to mourn and show support. Town Square Democracy’s very own Hans K. was in attendance and provided beautiful music to commemorate the life of a community member so wrongly killed. “"We want to honor his life, we want to honor all of the lives being taken by ICE," said Peter Hosey with Indivisible SF.
